The Manhattan Fish Market, Kiulap ๐Ÿฌ

At last! ๐Ÿ˜„ The day arrived for The Manhattan Fish Market‘s official opening so I took the initiative to book a table right away for our family dinner last night.ย No questions asked, no deliberations, my mind was set on eating there! ๐Ÿ˜

When we arrived around 8 pm, the restaurant was jam packed with people so we were quite fortunate that we reserved a table beforehand! ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

Loved this signpost!

The Manhattan Fish Market serves American-style seafood comprising from the famous Manhattan Fish nโ€™ Chips, the grand delight of the Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter, seafood chowders, flaming cheesy baked rice & pastas.

How I love the look of shiny new menu pages!

One of the few things that caught my eye (but I did not order ๐Ÿ˜‚) were the Oyster Roulette in Starters – this is where 1 out of the 4 poached oysters has an extra shot of spicy sauce, the Fishy Chicky Bang Bang- A dory fillet on one side & chicken fillet on the other with cheddar cheese in the middle (sort of like a sandwich) in Mains & Fried Oreos ๐Ÿ˜ฎ in desserts.

Anyway, what we really ordered were these:

Sharing Garlic Herb Mussels ($8.50)

For starters, we ordered the Garlic Herb Mussels, which is their Signature Starter for a good reason! ๐Ÿ˜‹ ย This was SEA-riously GOOD ๐Ÿ™Š, ย especially if you are mad for garlic like me! ๐Ÿ˜ ย The garlic flavour can be overwhelming for some though, but we finished this dish up in a matter of seconds. The mussels & portion itself were a bit small in size to be shared among three. The garlic bread rolls came nicely soft.

Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter: TASTE THE LEGEND ($37.50)ย

Seafood platters are known to be a good share among 2-3 people so we ordered this indisputable No. 1 choice among Manhattan Fish Market fans. The platter consists of hand battered choice of fish fillet (Cod ($37.50), Salmon ($37.50), Cherry Snapper ($31.50) & Dory ($29.50)), oysters & calamari, flame grilled prawns, chips & rice.

Upon serving, your waiter/waitress will ask how well torched do you want your prawns to be & we thought ‘Medium’ would be the safest. As seen in the picture, Medium was notย so bad so I would suggest going for ‘Dark’, if you want that char-grilled, smokey flavour.

We could all agree that the best of the dish would be the fried calamari ๐Ÿ˜˜, that was absolutely whale done ๐Ÿ™Š. The Cod fish would have been better with a bit of seasoning. We were more disappointed with the prawns because not only were the prawns small, they were NOT topped with cheese, but with sweet Mayonnaise! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

To end our dinner on a high note, we proceeded to order desserts.

Strawberry FLAMIN-GO ($3.90)

The strawberry FLAMIN-GO is Mango pudding with fresh strawberries, drizzled liberally with chocolate sauce & topped with flamed marshmallows. I would have liked if my marshmallows were a bit more torched. Mama felt that the Mango pudding was very mild- to almost no flavour (bland) & she did not like the combination with chocolate sauce. Perhaps the only attraction to this dessert was that they torched the marshmallows in front of you.

Sizzling Brownie ($5.90)

The Sizzling Brownie is a warm delicious brownie topped with smooth vanilla ice-cream &ย nuts (optional), drizzled with sizzling caramel sauce. โš ๏ธ WARNING!โš ๏ธ ย THE CARAMEL SAUCE IS BURNING, & I mean, BURNING HOT๐Ÿ”ฅ so you HAVE to leave it for a while or else you can easily burn your tongue. Bapa jokingly said, “Instead of a flaming prawn, I got a flaming tongue!๐Ÿ‘… ” Oh dear. ๐Ÿ˜“

The brownie had nuts in them, so I would advise against those with a nut allergy. However, the brownie was very rich & decadent with every bite! UMPFT! ๐Ÿ˜

Vienne Coffee ($4)

Bapa ordered the Vienne Coffee which was pleasingly good, while I ordered the Happiness Infusion to quench my thirst.

Happiness Infusion

A sip of Earl Grey tea with lemongrass infusion, kissed by the sweetness of strawberry & lychee, this is a drink I would dolphinately recommend! ๐Ÿ™Š ย The drink was very light & refreshing. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Totaled up, we hit $67 ๐Ÿค‘. A bit pricey, considering ย that we felt that the starter & main portions were smaller compared to Fish n Co. HEADS UP! The Manhattan Fish Market only accepts cash for now, no card payment.

Double HEADS UP! They only serve Mineral water in a bottle, which I thought you should know as well.

What I would recommend would be the Garlic Herb Mussels & Fried Calamari for starters & the Happiness Infusion for drinks. Taste wise, it is good & satisfying so we will come again to try out the other dishes, such as the Seafood Aglio Olio, Fish n Chips or the baked rice.
